Ask HN: IEEE expulsion of Fei-Yue Wang?

Since I saw this first in print, I imagine it's pretty old news. But I can't find any coverage of the relevant events on line. Page 55 of the September 2026 issue of _IEEE Spectrum_ includes the following:

> As of 21 June 2026. a Level 1 Expulsion has been imposed on IEEE Member Dr, Fei-Yue Wang, former editor-in-chief of the _IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles._ In accordance with IEEE Bylaw I-110.5(D)(i). Dr. Wang is no longer a member of IEEE, and is permanently banned from any type of membership in any IEEE organizational unit or participation in any IEEE activity. The Board of Directors also determined this notice to IEEE membership should be made.

Dr. Wang (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fei-Yue_Wang) is a prominent researcher, so this action would seem to be quite significant. Does anyone know the details?

    Wang had been removed from his position as Editor-in-Chief, IEEE Trans on Intelligent Vehicles (https://ieee-itss.org/about/officers/past) prior to this; and IEEE has investigated multiple T-IV articles involving Wang:

    So those retractions (seem to be peer review related) combined with the removal from the position of Editor-in-Chief, suggest something along the lines of editorial interference/manipulation of peer review.
